Carrier Oils in Keshavi Ayurveda
Carrier oils are the foundation of every Keshavi blend. Each oil is selected not just for its nourishing properties, but also for its Ayurvedic dosha-balancing qualities, emotional healing potential, and ability to carry herbs deep into the tissues (dhatus).

Black Sesame Oil
Revered as the 'King of Oils' in Ayurveda, Black Sesame Oil is vata-pacifying and deeply grounding. It penetrates all seven dhatus (tissues), strengthens the nervous system, nourishes the scalp, and promotes hair growth. It’s especially powerful for postpartum women as it warms the body, supports lactation, and soothes joint discomfort. Used in Abhyanga (daily oil massage) and classical taila paka preparations.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is cooling, making it ideal for balancing excess pitta. It soothes inflammation, hydrates dry skin, and cools overheated scalps. Traditionally used in Southern Ayurveda, it’s often used in summer blends and for individuals prone to skin sensitivity and scalp irritation.

Almond Oil
Sweet Almond Oil is rich in Vitamin E, magnesium, and fatty acids. It pacifies vata and pitta, softens skin, and strengthens hair from the roots. Used in postpartum care for its rejuvenating and brain-nourishing properties, Almond Oil promotes mental clarity and restful sleep.

Olive Oil
While not classical to Ayurveda, Olive Oil is deeply nourishing and full of antioxidants. It promotes elasticity, supports skin regeneration, and is used as a carrier in skin-soothing formulations for sensitive or dry conditions. It is mildly heating, making it suitable in cooler seasons.

Castor Oil
Castor Oil is heavy, unctuous, and deeply cleansing. It is used in Ayurvedic Panchakarma detox therapies and in oil blends to stimulate hair growth, relieve constipation, and support joint lubrication. It pacifies vata and kapha and is excellent for deep nourishment of the scalp and muscles.

Rosehip Seed Oil
A modern Ayurvedic inclusion, Rosehip Oil is rich in Vitamin C and essential fatty acids. It helps fade scars, stretch marks, and pigmentation — ideal for postpartum skin repair. Its light texture makes it a favorite for facial oil blends and night repair rituals.

Wheatgerm Oil
A powerhouse of Vitamin E, Wheatgerm Oil is regenerative and strengthens the skin barrier. It is used in Ayurvedic formulations for preventing and reducing stretch marks, supporting tissue repair, and calming dry, irritated skin.

Macadamia Oil
This oil is lightweight and luxurious. Rich in palmitoleic acid, it mimics skin’s natural oils, making it ideal for sensitive and aging skin. While not classical to Ayurveda, it blends beautifully with warming oils and enhances absorption.

Jojoba Oil
Technically a liquid wax, Jojoba closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum. It balances oil production, making it excellent for both oily and dry skin types. It is ideal for facial oil blends, postpartum skin recovery, and scalp balancing without greasiness.

Golden Sesame Oil
A purified, sun-infused version of black sesame oil, this is considered even more sattvic (pure). Used in spiritual rituals, pre-natal and postnatal care, it carries herbs with utmost clarity into the body’s energy channels (srotas). Balances all three doshas when properly processed.
